After your cruise ship docks in Rio de Janeiro, you’re picked up for the ride to Leblon, one of Rio’s most affluent neighborhoods, where the 2-hour Plataforma Show takes place.
Settle into a prime seat in the theater and take part in an entertaining spectacle of rhythmic live music and dance. Watch as dozens of talented dancers and drummers perform samba, folk dances and popular songs that express Brazil’s cultural influences ─ including Portuguese, African and indigenous origins.
Enjoy a light show alongside drummers and performers demonstrating the eye-catching spins of capoeira, a Brazilian movement that combines martial art with dance. Then get caught up in Rio’s world-famous celebration as the show culminates in a Carnival parade of outrageous costumes on stage.
The Plataforma Show finishes at midnight, after which you’ll be returned to your cruise port (or you can stay out on your own to continue your night, making your own way back when you wish).
Please note: this shore excursion is a night tour and is designed for ships which depart at midnight or the following day

Before the show begins, enjoy a buffet dinner at the Plataforma Restaurant. Your meal at this traditional Brazilian steakhouse includes a variety of marinated, barbecued meats with local seafood and salads. Drinks and dessert are available for purchase at your own expense.

We will ensure your timely return to the Rio de Janeiro port for this activity. In the rare event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. The show gives a panoramic view of the roots of the samba, from the native and African influences up to the modern day spectacular Carnival. While it starts off on the slow side, it picks up momentum as it progresses.

The show was excellent. The logistics were terrible. For a 10 PM show we were picked up at 8 and rode around downtown RIO for 1.5 hours for no apparent reason.

The trip was great, enjoyed the show. Only wish was getting there a little earlier to select seats. On our arrival 15 minutes before most seats were taken.

This was WAY over-priced. The venue was dingy, dirty, and grim. And the performance seemed like a high school play. Sorry.

Dinner was very good and authentic Brazilian BBQ. The show was very entertaining and the performers were very personable when we were arriving - Taking photos with us before and after the show.

The theatre itself is a bit tired and the seating is in chairs around a raised stage - feels more like a school hall. The actual show is worth it for the costumes. It is a lot of fun if you accept it for what it is - Broadway it isn't ! But glad we did it.

We loved the Plataforma Samba show in Rio. But, the ride from the cruise pier took about 2 hours because of all the stops we made on the way! This was not good! We recommended this to some others on our cruise ship, and they were not happy about that bus ride. We all recommend that if you want cruise passengers to take your excursions, that you arrange for a separate bus pick-up from the cruise pier.
