This is where one of the Three Great Treasures of Japan is housed and only the treasures can be looked upon by the Emperor alone. The Sun Goddess Amaterasu lives here and since the shrine has two parts, there are certain protocols involved in visiting this shrine.

We will meet at 8:00am at Ishi Shi Station,We will then walk to the first half of theShrine; Geku.We will begin our walking tour following proper protocols established at GekuThis walk should take about 1.5 hours covering multiple smaller Shrines.We will depart from Geku and go the second half of the Shrine atNaiku by taxi.At Naiku, we will begin our walking tour, following proper protocols established at NaikuThis walk should take about 1.5 hours covering multiple smaller Shrines. We should be done by early afternoon and lunch in the little town of Oharaemachi and Okageyokocho. Here we will have lunch, some oysters, locally made craft beer and local sake. We will then head back tot he station.
