Once you are picked up from your hotel, you will head off to McLeod Ganj to visit the Dalai Lama Temple Complex. This place, also called "Little Lhasa of Tibet" in Upper Dharamshala is known world-wide, such as His Holiness the Dalai Lama resides here. The main temple is where He gives teachings several times a year. His Holiness’ residence is located near the main temple and the headquarters of the Tibetan Government in Exile is located just below McLeod Ganj.
You will alsoexplore the local market at Mcleod Ganj, where you can see and buy Tibetan handicrafts. Afterwards, your guide will accompany you to St. John church. The Gothic stone building of the Church was constructed in 1852. The site also has a memorial of the British Viceroy Lord Elgin and an old graveyard.
Later, take a stroll around Dal Lake. The lake is a scenic picnic spot surrounded by the forests of Deodar. Beside the lakeis a temple of Durveshwar Mahadev.
Continue the tour to Tibetan Children's Villages, a non-profit charitable organization which is a community forthe care and education of orphans, destitute and refugee children from Tibet. This school is mainly focused onquality modern education and anintroduction to the heritage of Tibetan Buddhism.
After learning about the history of Dharamshala, your guide will take you to a restaurant to enjoy a delicious local lunch. Afterwards,you willhead to Norbulingka Institute,aconservatory of Tibetan culture and museum founded by government to preserve and promote Tibetan art and culture in exile. You will be transferred back to your hotel at the conclusion of the tour.
