Pateeswarar ancient temple was built by king Karikala Chola in 7th Century with several gopurams and halls, 'Kanaka Sabha' is the famous one with golden statue of Nataraja. The pillars have carvings of the various manifestations of Shiva and the ceiling has a series of stone chains, opening timings: 05:30am to 13:00pm and 16:00pm to 21:00pm.
