The guided excursion will take you from Chora, Ios Village, by bus to the Bronze age (3rd millenium BC) settlement of Skarkos, the biggest of its kind in the Cyclades. Skaros Hill has a settlement from before the period of written history, with structures preserved up to three meters above grade. Most of the buildings were had two stories, stone floors, and a sewage system.

Having toured the ancient site, you will continue to the east coast of the island by bus, where the ruins of the Venetian fortress are situated, spectacularly above the blue Aegean, locally known as Paliokastro. There is a paved road all the way to the ruins on top of the mountain. You don’t need to be very fit but be advised that it’s not recommended for those with fear of heights. The view as you climb up as well as from the ruins is amazing. You can easily spot Antiparos, Paros, Naxos, Amorgos, as well as several other smaller islands.

 Visit the pretty fishing village of Psathi where lunch is provided at Alonistra, a traditional family run taverna, which uses amazing, locally grown produce. (Lunch is included in the price with wine or soft drinks)

 You can spend the rest of the afternoon bathing at this idyllic beach before returning to Chora.  This tour departs every Tuesday, from the main bus stop in Chora.
