The journey to the desert is a crazy ride but at no point did I my safety was jeapordized. We had a driver, Omar, I think who was a pro on the road. However, maybe he could explain a little bit as he drove along. We stopped at a couple of places for photo stops. The view is gorgeous! We also went to the UNESCO heritage site which was the filming location for many movies. The Camel riding through the desert was a splendid experience. But what blew my mind away was actually our accommodation that night, we stayed in tents. Before that we were served a scrumptious dinner spread and were entertained by Berber live music performance. And they let us play their drums although I was off beat the whole time. Prior to dinner we sat with one of the Berber guys and he gave quite a detailed explanation bout the history of berbers. He also answered our questions. At this point, when you look up in the night sky, you would see millions of stars. So bright and beautiful. Day 2 - I expected a little bit more but nope it was just a drive back to Marrakech. Overall great experience.

Really enjoyed the this trip overall. The views were outstanding, visiting Ait Ben Haddou was informative and beautiful. The camels were great fun and the camp was comfy! A couple of things were left out of the explanation when we booked it however. As far as we knew all we had to buy was lunch on the way there and the way plus water (definitely take water as none is provided) but we knew that so no issue there. When we arrived at Ait Ben Haddou we were greeted by a man called Muhammid. Great guy, spoke many languages and was extremely knowledgable. He took us around and threw the village which was great however he towards the end of the village tour he took us into a scarf shop and told us to get into the desert you need sunglasses, a scarf and suncream. We had all three but Muhammed insisted that you needed these top quality scarfs that were 12 euros each (thats our lunch money gone) then he led us to a restaurant for lunch. Food quality was a solid 4 out of 10 and choice was very limited. We had a set menu choice of around 12 euros each for a three course meal. Very small portions. Then he came around telling us that we had to pay for the tour he gave. 3 euros each. The tour was definitely worth more but as we were unaware of all these secret but necessary purchases we had no cash left for lunch or his trip fee! I had to borrow money from the bus driver (who was great) It was just a very awkward situation to be in that could have been avoided if we had known about the extra costs. Once we arrived at the camels we very quickly realised that the scarfs weren't necessary at all, nor the glasses, nor the suncream. It was November and about 17 degrees. The camel ride was shorter than expected but once we arrived at camp we met the berber camp hosts who were all fascinating to speak to and great at their jobs. If I were to do it again I'd book a longer tour of the desert. If you do take this tour I recommend buying a cheap scarf somewhere else for 2 euros and take sun glasses and suncream. There is no need to buy them there they are just an extra bit of cash from tourists. There was another cafe right by where we had lunch as well, I'd go there for lunch and meet the rest of the group at the restaurant afterwards. Still, a great experience, Atlas Mountains were great, camels were ridden and we stayed in the desert (just) but next time I'll go for longer in the desert and skip the tourist traps beforehand.

The van ride out to Zagora and the different sightseeing stops were excellent. The drive through the Atlas mountains was beautiful. We stopped at a small restaurant for lunch and it was good. You cannot beat the value of this trip. The camel ride was fun (a little uncomfortable) but you do not ride that long. The tent camp was well set up and the food was very good. The washrooms were way better than I expected. Here are the downsides: the beds are very hard and the tents are VERY hot. I was willing to give the review a 5 because everything else about the trip was so great even if you cannot sleep well.

This was the most AMAZING experience, it is a lot of time in the car for just a 24 hour period, but with all the stops along the way you hardly notice. I am so glad I took the plunge and booked this tour. Our driver Mouhsine was the BEST, if you have the opportunity to request a driver, I'd request him. He was funny and informative but also let us nap instead of peppering us with information the whole time. He was always willing to stop for pictures when we asked and was really good about letting us know when there was one coming up. He also helped us translate at lunch and when we made some souvenir shopping stops. I cannot say enough good things about this tour and especially Mouhsine!

Awesome!!! We all loved it, especially my 9 year old. Was SO GREAT! Bring a book for the long ride there and money for the fun stops and shopping along the way.

Amazing experience. Amazing people. Amazing scenery. Expect a long drive both days and be prepared to have fun with the people you are with. It was the best 48 hours I had during my time in Morocco. Brilliant entertainment at the campsite, beautiful sunset and rise. Everything was perfect.

A great highlight of our visit. We would do this again. If you can, bring binoculars to do star gazing at night at the camp. We learned drumming, some dancing, had some great food, and slept comfortably in a tent. In the morning, we had time to hike a bit before we headed back to the city. Quite a lovely excursion, with different sights, smells, and people to enjoy.

The camel trek to the camp and the one night at camp were the best parts of the trip. The eight hour drive to the camp is too much, the driver didn't say a word for eight hours and played the same ten songs in a row. We only stopped every 2 1/2 hours to get coffee, and use the restroom for 15 minutes. The one stop at Kasbah A t Ben Haddou was a scam. When you get out of the van they say you have an hour to explore on your own, then they hand you off to a guide. The guide directs you over sand bags to cross a river so the kids waiting there can get money to hold you hand so you don't fall in. There is a perfectly good bridge, don't fall for this! At lunch the guide informs you it's 30dhs per person for the tour plus tips, the tour you didn't ask for. The whole trip costs twice as much as you pay on viator. You are asked for tips every stop, they also charge you to pee. You have to pay for all your meals, coffee, snacks... bring at least 1000dhs for two people. I really loved the camp, the Berbers were amazing hosts, friendly and fun. I wouldn't do it again because of the constant push for money, and the van driver who didn't have one thing to say about where we were. Also he stopped only once for pictures of the mountains.
