產品詳情

Meet your guide at Churchgate railway station and travel together by train, an approximate 30-minute ride at your own expense. Or, make your own way, meeting your guide and small group at Mahim Junction railway station in Mumbai. Alternatively, upgrade to include round-trip transport by air-conditioned vehicle from Colaba; logistical details are outlined in the Itinerary below. All three options can be done in either the morning or afternoon.
On arrival in Dharavi, set out on your 2.5-hour walking tour that dissects one of India’s largest slums. Follow your guide down a maze of narrow lanes that comprise a mix of households and small-scale businesses run by Dharavi’s residents.
Learn about the working conditions among numerous cottage industries ─ including textiles, recycling, pottery and leather tanning ─ in an informal economy that turns over millions of dollars annually. Passing through these small spaces, you'll learn about the sense of community that exists among the residents, whose diversity is reflected in the temples, mosques, and churches that stand side by side.
Tour the recycling area, where old computer parts and plastics arrive from all over the world, and step foot inside a bakery where tea biscuits are made fresh daily. Watch artisans create pots from sun-dried clay, and see the women of Dharavi make popaddoms: the essential appetizer of any Indian meal.
Visit a replica resident's house, observe the expansive view from a Dharavi factory rooftop, and see photos on exhibit ─ taken by children in a local art program. At an NGO-sponsored community center, you’ll see a vibrant gathering of people learning library, English, and computer skills, or engaging in activities such as dancing and yoga.
Finish with a soft drink at the reception center in Dharavi, and then make your own way back from Mahim Junction or return by train with your guide.
Please note: Your tour guide is sensitive to the issues and concerns surrounding slums and understands that this tour may not be suitable for everyone. Guides strongly believe that the purpose of this tour is for educational reasons alone and allows for a better understanding of Indian life inside Dharavi. Furthermore, the majority of the proceeds from your local tour operator goes back into the local community to support a variety of projects on education, health, and livelihood.

It was with great trepidation that I booked the Dharavi Slum Small-Group Tour in Mumbai. Like everyone else who watched Slumdog Millionaire, I expected the Dharavi Slum in which the movie was filmed to be dirty, impoverished and quite possibly dangerous. Boy was I wrong. What an eye-opening experience this tour proved to be! Our guide, Champ, is a former resident of the slum and expertly navigated our group through the narrow passageways therein. At no point did I feel unsafe throughout the entire visit. What Champ also successfully did is reset my definition of slum. He pointed out how the slum served as a place of immense opportunity for its inhabitants, as well as illustrating the sense of community within the slum. If you are hesitant to book this tour, do it. You will get a rare glimpse into a completely different world.

A very eye opening tour. The slum is huge and functions as any city yet with limited access to normal resources. It was remarkable the infrastructure which was present through out this city within Mumbai. Definately do this tour if you want to experience a striking reality of Mumbai. I suggest closed shoes as the paths through the slum can be a bit dirty. Be prepared to also go in very dark alleys and climb precarious stairs with in the plastics recycling factory.

This tour was the absolute highlight of our Mumbai visit. The guide from reality tours was fantastic, took time to explain Govt policy on slums, was considerate and helpful with my wifes slight disability , all in all a most informative ,educational expierience. Would highly recomend this tour for all from 8 to 80.

This was a very humbling experience, lost for words.
Guides were very informative, our safety was never in question.
    Highly recommend this tour!

Our tour was great, we really got to see Dharavi and learn so much about the people and the place. A very special thanks to our guide Raj, he was amazing, my husband cut his head on the edge of a steel beam and needed to have stitches, Raj was so patient, he took us to the doctor, then to a small hospital clinic, he waited with us then we continued the tour! Raj took us to see his Mum who gave us a warm welcome and a lovely cup of chai. Thanks Raj, you were a great guide and we highly recommend this company -Reality Tours in Dharavi.

V worthwhile and informative tour. Gives a snap shot of what life is really like. Completely dismisses all the presumptions I had of how it would be. Ganesh tour guide was v good. Would probably be easier to meet at Matunga station than churchgate.

    Nice guide

Swathi was our guide, she weaved a tale of the people of Dharavi, India, and her family as easily as she weaved us in and out of the alley ways of Dharavi. If you want to understand the migrations inside and outside of India, how the country, the people, and the economy work, and perhaps where some of your favourite Bombay snacks come from this tour is right up your alley so to speak.

Excellent tour and really an understanding for the residents of Dharavi and the industry they have developed within. You will not be disappointed by taking this tour.
