Meet your instructor-pilot at Montreal/Saint-Lazare Aerodrome, a local airport located about 12 miles (20 km) west of Montreal. Begin your training on the ground with a 25-minute orientation, learning the ins and outs of flight theory, and the controls and instruments for a Cessna 152 (two-seater) or 172 (four-seater).
( (After the briefing, slip into the pilot’s seat of the Cessna. Under the supervision of your instructor ─ who stays seated beside you the entire flight ─ start the engine, go through checks, taxi on the runway and then slowly ascend into the sky. Practice basic flight maneuvers in the air, including steering turns, climbs, and descents. The grand finale? When you complete the final leg of your flight with a skillful landing back at the airport.
The longer you’re in the air (45 or 70 minutes), the more of Montreal you’ll see. Read on to learn more about each flight option.
Panoramic Flight (45 minutes) In addition to the sights above, capture amazing aerial views of Jacques-Cartier Bridge, Mt Royal Park (Parc du Mt-Royal), and St Joseph’s Oratory (Oratoire St-Joseph du Mont-Royal), an Italian Renaissance style basilica.
Ultimate Flight (70 minutes) Take in all the sights from the Discovery and Panoramic flights as you stay airborne and steer the Cessna to your heart’s content.
