Day 1: London  Chawton House  Portsmouth  Isle of Wight (D)Make your own way to the prearranged meeting point in central London to join up with your driver-guide. Then, hop aboard a comfortable minivan and relax on the journey out of the city to the beautiful country of Hampshire.
After around 1.5 hours, arrive in the Hampshire village of Chawton, where you’ll visit Jane Austen’s House Museum, the only house where the well-loved writer lived and wrote that is open to the public as a museum. Hear how it was in this 17th-century house that Austen spent the last eight years of her life, revising three manuscripts and penning three more novels.
Next, continue on to the dynamic waterfront city of Portsmouth. With time here spent at your leisure, you’re free to do as much, or as little, as you wish. Perhaps visit the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard (own expense), or recharge with a drink and some food at a local cafe (own expense).
Meet back up with your guide, and then board a ferry for the crossing to the Isle of Wight. After almost an hour, disembark and continue your journey by road to your hotel. After checking in, enjoy a delectable dinner, consisting of local, seasonal produce.

Day 2: Isle of Wight (B)After breakfast at your hotel, meet up with your guide and small group and set off by comfortable minivan for Carisbrooke Castle. Explore the historical castle with your guide and hear how King Charles I was famously imprisoned here prior to his execution.
Then, make for Ventnor Botanic Garden. Marvel at the garden’s unrivalled collection of subtropical and exotic plants, and learn how it is protected from the cold northerly winds by chalk downs, meaning its climate is more akin to the Mediterranean than mainland Britain.
When the time comes, return to your hotel and enjoy the evening at your leisure.

Day 3: Isle of Wight  New Forest (B)Savor a delicious hotel breakfast before checking out and joining up with your guide and group. Then, relax and take in the sights as you journey to Osborne House, a royal seaside palace where Queen Victoria lived with Prince Albert and their nine children. Tour the nursery and private rooms with your guide for a glimpse into Queen Victoria’s family life, and be wowed by the sumptuous Royal Apartments, which include the Indian-inspired Durbar Room.
Next, enjoy a scenic drive back to the mainland. Visit the coastal town of Great Yarmouth, where you’ll enjoy free time for lunch (own expense), before continuing on to Buckler’s Hard. Learn about the important role the 18th-century village played in Britain’s shipbuilding history, then travel to Burley in the New Forest to check in to your hotel, your base for the next two nights.

Day 4: New Forest (B, D)Following breakfast at your hotel, travel to the traditional market town of Ringwood. Enjoy free time to explore this beautiful parish on the banks of the River Avon, and then rub shoulders with the locals at the lively weekly market.
Later, head deep into the ancient New Forest, where you’ll be met by a local guide who will lead a foraging experience. As you search the undergrowth for fruit and fungi, learn about the area’s rich history and diverse wildlife.
When the time comes, return to your hotel for the final dinner of your 5-day trip. Join your guide and small group and dine on three delicious courses before spending the rest of the evening at your leisure.

Day 5: New Forest  Newbury  London (B)Tuck into a delicious breakfast at your hotel, then check out and set off on your final excursion of the trip. From the comfort of your minivan, take in the scenery as you journey toward the town of Newbury.
On arrival, take a seat aboard a traditional narrow boat and cruise along the Kennet and Avon canal. Snap photos as you pass under historical bridges and glide by quaint English pubs. Then, after your boat ride, return to your minivan and relax on the journey back to London, where your 5-day trip concludes at the original start point.
