Make your own way to Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site surrounding Mt Teide, the highest mountain in Spain and the third largest volcano in the world.
Depending on your route, pass through Ch□o, Vilaflor, La Orotava or La Esperanza and travel deep into the Corona Forestal Natural Park, where you’ll be astounded by mesmerizing lava formations and towering Canary pines. Then, wind your way up Mt Teide’s roads to a height of around 7,730 feet (2,356 meters). On arrival at the lower cable car station, hop out of your vehicle and join up with your private guide.
After introductions, hear a brief history of the cable car, then skip past the lines and find yourself a spot in one of the cable car cabins. Drink in the awe-inspiring views and snaps photos of jagged lava flows and the expansive Las Ca adas Caldera as you glide further up Mt Teide.
Arrive at the upper cable car station after roughly eight minutes and then set off on the trail to the Pico Viejo lookout point. Equipped with a map and a headset so you can hear the commentary at all times, follow your guide along the well-trodden, mostly flat pathway.
Admire the Los Roques de Garc□a rock formations and stunning views of the south side of Tenerife as your guide shares fascinating facts about the area. After 45 minutes, arrive at the vantage point, where you’re rewarded with breathtaking views of the multi-colored Pico Viejo crater, whose diameter stretches an incredible 2,625 feet (800 meters). Also keep an eye out for the islands of La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma.
After, you will have free time to discover Teide on your own. When the time comes, make your way back to the meeting point taking the cable car without queuing and return to your air-conditioned vehicle and independently journey back to your hotel.
Please note: In the event of unfavorable weather conditions and the closure of the cable car, the tour will follow an alternate route.
