The Aana Salt Valley, located in Alava is one of the most spectacular and best preserved cultural landscapes in Europe. In this salt landscape located in Salinas de Aana (lava -Basque Country), 30 km from Vitoria- Gasteiz, man has taken advantage of the saltsprings for thousands of years to obtain a product that is essential to life, salt. A magnificent outdoor cultural landscape formed over more than 5,000 eras: platforms on which the brine, saltwater, is poured to obtain salt through solar evaporation. A unique and extensive network of wooden channels distribute the water to the most remote corners of the Salt Valley.

During the morning we will have a guided tour through the Salt Valley, including salt production and SPA. After the visit, you will be able to taste some of the salts that are produced, such as wine salt. You will then have lunch at the Palacio de Aana restaurant to taste a menu of dishes seasoned with different salts produced in the valley.

In the afternoon, we will meet in Vitoria, a city that offers endless possibilities. A city cooked with the best ingredients and the best quality.

We will go to the Gothic style Cathedral of Santa Maria, it is situated in the highest part of the hill on which the primitive village of “Gasteiz” settled. Internationally known for being the inspiration of Ken Follett to give continuity to “The Pillars of the Earth”. We include a guided tour of this architectural gem.
