You can tour the Borghese Gallery and Gardens on your own, but the guided tour option really adds a lot to the experience. Our tour guide Emiliano was excellent in leading us through the exhibits and explaining the background behind each of the major works of arts. We really enjoyed his commentary. The walk and ongoing commentary moving through the extensive gardens to a beautiful viewpoint of the city below were very nice as well. One recommendation would be to not schedule this tour for your first day in Rome after a long day(s) of travel. It is pretty intensive. The Borghese is definitely a don't miss attraction while in Rome.

Nothing at all wrong with the Borghese Gallery! However, we waited in a line to get out tickets form the agent - in the sun. Then waited in line on the steps to get into the gallery. Also another wait in the sun. A lot of visitors had the same time, and the security people only let everyone in at that time. Also, we had to go out again to get the audio tour in the basement.Since I had not paid for a guided tour, that would have been good info to know!

Made reservations for 3:00 pm. Discovered that it meant 9:00 am italian time and missed the event. Later learned I could by tickets at the event for 1/3 the cost. Disappointed!

Don't skip this museum! This was my third time to Rome and third time to the Borghese. It's totally worth it.

Our three children generally hate art museums, but they were spellbound for two hours and bought Bernini posters! Our tourguide--an energetic young architecture student--brought it all to life.

Since the Borghese Gallery requires reservations, this was helpful to buy However, the guide of the company that Viator partnered with to hand out the tickets was NOT where the information said he would be, so we had to look around for him for half an hour to get our tickets.

We had a knowledgeable guide who clearly explained the art and its significance to us.
She even gave us a guided tour of the gardens afterwards.

City Wonders was the tour operator for this tour. We bought tickets only, and were satisfied with the experience.

Definitely check out the Borghese Gallery! Amazing works of art. Get skip the line tickets - we tried to get in on a prior trip to Rome and the museum was totally booked.
