Meet your guide in the early afternoon near Parc des Buttes-Chaumont for your 3-hour walking tour of this off-the-beaten-path landmark. Located in northeast Paris, this open stretch of peaceful parkland sits high above the city, and is a popular city escape for nature lovers, walkers, families and couples.

Wander the grassy park and learn of its history from your guide. It was opened in 1867 during the reign of Emperor Napoleon III, and spreads 61 acres (25 hectares), making it the fifth-largest park in Paris. Pass locals out for a scenic stroll, walking their dogs and picnicking on inviting slopes.

Visit the park’s crowning gem, the Temple de la Sibylle, inspired by the ancient Roman Temple of Vesta in Tivoli, Italy. From your hilltop vantage point overlooking the park’s greenery and artificial lake, enjoy views over Paris toward Montmartre and the iconic dome of Basilique du Sacr□-Coeur.

Descend down to the quiet streets and pathways below the park, far from the noisy traffic and bustling thoroughfares of central Paris.
