Admire the Beaux-Arts elegance of the Mus□e d'Orsay and cross over the Pont des Arts.
This itinerary also includes the Palais Royal, as well as the Belle-Epoque arcades and covered passages of the Galerie Vivienne and Passage Choiseul. Red Route (1 to 4 Hours)
Begin your exploration of western Paris at the Grand Palais, the largest glass and ironwork structure in the world, built for the 1900 World’s Fair. After snapping shots of the magnificent glass vault dome, cross the Pont Alexandre III over to the Left Bank and arrive at Les Invalides, built by Louis XIV in 1671. Learn about its design and construction, and see Napoleon’s tomb.
Stroll onto the sprawling green space of Parc du Champ-de-Mars and gaze at the iconic Eiffel Tower. Take side trips to visit the Mus□e Rodin, Mus□e Quai Branly and the Trocad□ro Gardens. Learn about the Arc de Triomphe at the center of Place Charles de Gaulle and then mosey down the grand boulevard of the Champs Elys□es.
Purple Route (1 to 5 Hours)
Journey into the eastern side of Paris, starting at the Place du Ch telet and move on to the le de la Cit□ to see the Conciergerie, a former prison near the Sainte-Chapelle. Discover the Latin Quarter, including the Boulevard Saint Michel and the Mus□e de Cluny. Learn about the Notre-Dame Cathedral’s Gothic exterior and then cross a bridge over to le Saint-Louis, which retains the charm of a small village, before admiring the H tel de Ville (City Hall).
A 2-hour variation of this route includes a walk up to the Montagne Sainte-Genevi□ve, site of the Panth□on. Check out the Grand Mosque of Paris, one of the largest mosques in France, and then the Museum of Natural History located in the Jardin des Plantes. Stroll past the sleek L’institut du Monde Arabe (Institute of the Arabic World), designed by Jean Nouvel.
Another 2-hour long itinerary of eastern Paris takes you to the Centre Georges Pompidou and into the narrow winding streets of Le Marais, an originally swampy district now teeming with upscale shops and galleries. Visit the Mus□e Carnavalet, which traces the history of Paris, and see the 17th-century architecture of the Place des Vosges, the oldest planned square in the city. Along the way, come across impressive private mansions, including the H tel Sully and H tel de Sens.
