Day 1: Alice Springs - Uluru (Ayers Rock)
Travel from Alice Springs to Uluru (Ayers Rock) aboard a luxury coach. Take in the rugged desert landscapes of the region, passing through the beautiful MacDonnell Ranges. Stop at the Camel Farm and learn about the impact camels had in opening up Central Australia. Camels, ideally suited to the hot, dry climate of Australia’s interior, were imported in the 19th century and remained the principal means of outback transport until railways and roads were established. You have the opportunity to ride a camel (own expense). While traveling through this remote country, your friendly Driver/Guide will provide an informative and entertaining commentary. Learn the natural and geological history of the region, as well as the unique Australian desert flora and fauna such as the Perentie monitor lizard, the thorny devil and the red kangaroo. Hear about the traditional customs and beliefs of the local Aboriginals. There is time for stop at Mt Ebenezer road house for a quick break. View flat-topped Atila (Mt Conner) in the distance before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort rested, relaxed and ready to explore the amazing World Heritage-listed Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.
This afternoon travel around the base of Uluru in comfort as your Driver Guide provides commentary about the numerous sacred sites and features to be found at Uluru. Continue by coach to the Kuniya Walk where your Driver Guide will escort you to the beautiful Mutitjulu Waterhole. View Aboriginal rock paintings and learn about the area as your Driver Guide points out some native flora and explains the Aboriginal and European history of Uluru. Later visit the Uluru Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, where you can learn about Aboriginal culture and see Aboriginal arts and crafts.
In the late afternoon, travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Witness the striking color changes of Uluru at sunset while enjoying canap□s and a complimentary glass of wine. Overnight: Choice of budget, standard or superior accommodation at Ayers Rock Resort.
Optional Aussie BBQ Dinner
After sunset, a guide will transfer you to the exclusive barbecue site. The site is within the Uluru National Park, outside the Uluru & Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre set amongst red sand dunes and desert oak trees providing a peaceful desert setting. The site is located far enough away from the resort lights so that there is a clear view of the stars in the southern sky. Once at the site, you will be served a variety of Australian meats and salads, accompanied by a glass of sparkling wine, beer or orange juice (menus are subject to change). After dinner, you will be served tea, coffee and dessert and your guide will conduct a tour of the night sky, describing and pointing out some of the visible constellations with the assistance of a high beam spotlight (weather permitting). Your guide will also explain some Aboriginal stories that relate to the stars before you return to Ayers Rock Resort.
Day 2: Uluru (Ayers Rock) (D)
Rise early this morning to travel to the Uluru sunrise viewing area. Watch the first rays of the sun set the Red Centre alight while enjoying a warming cup of tea or coffee. Then travel to the mystical 36 domes of Kata Tjuta. On the way enjoy panoramic views of the southern side of Kata Tjuta before arriving at the base of Walpa Gorge. Spend some time exploring the gorge and the unusual conglomerate rock formations. The walking trail through Walpa Gorge follows the natural creek between two of the tallest domes of Kata Tjuta. Return to Ayers Rock Resort.
In the evening dine under a million stars at the award winning Sounds of Silence Dinner. Enjoy a gourmet buffet of Australian delicacies accompanied by fine Australian wines, then sit back and relax as a Star Talker takes you on a tour of the Southern Night skies (conditions permitting). Overnight: Choice of budget, standard or superior accommodation at Ayers Rock Resort.

My husband I had been looking forward to this trip. The Uluru visit was the highlight of our 20th wedding anniversary trip to Australia. The trip overall was positive. The staff for both the tour company and the hotel in which we stayed were all thoughtful, informative and well-trained to welcome and support the travelers. So no complaint there. The attractions that the tour company set up for us were also fine. Uluru is breathtaking and Kata Tjuta is as well. I appreciated that the tour company staff were consistent in sharing different cultural facts and information with us AND that they communicated how important it was for us to respect the sanctity of this land and the indigenous people to whom is belongs. The hotel was fine (Sails in the Desert) -- it was not extraordinary but it as nicely laid out and seemed comfortable enough. My challenges were not many -- it did feel a bit like you were captive in the village (like everything was there and you were stuck with those options.) I got a bit of a mill feeling too -- there were so many people and they had processes to efficiently get everyone to where they needed to be. But it felt like an assembly line process. Our room was not cleaned well one of the says we were there. After requesting a manager, then another manager and then finally a manager who could do something, we were offered an apology and a gift that was helpful. So all of these things would make me rate the experience a 4 and not a 5.I rated the experience as a 3 because I don't see that this was a 3 day tour. it is really two days. If you want to pay for some more activities on the 3rd day, you are welcome to do so. From my perspective, this is really a 2 day tour and should be advertised as such. I'm not sure I would recommend it to others. But then again, I am not sure who else runs tours in the area. Viator may be the best of the lot. In any case, no one should come to Australia and not see Uluru. It is a truly amazing sight.

We booked our trip through the tour company!!!! They are incredible!!!! We were picked up at our Chifley Alice Springs resort on time!!!! The tour guide was wonderful and knew so much about the Outback!!!! We stopped at a rest stop and I rode a camel. Amazing!!! We got coffee and souvenirs and then got back on the bus!!!! Stopped at an Emu reserve and had a quick lunch!!! We arrived at our hotel Pioneer Outback hotel. Our room was accidentally given to another person but we received another room. Our afternoon tour through the tour company of Uluru was wonderful! Love the tour guides of the tour company!!! friendly, love their country and talk about the interesting things. The Sunrise at Ayers Rock and Kata Tjuta were incredible especially since it was Easter Sunday!!! The weather and sunrise was incredible!!!! Our Sounds of Silence dinner was so fantastic!!!! We enjoyed sparkling wines, beers and delicious appetizers along with the amazing views of Uluru and Kata Tjuta!!! The sunset was fabulous!!!! We then went to our assigned tables. My husband and I shared a table with a couple from Melbourne and a young couple who worked at Ayers Rock!!! Our meal was wonderful but talking with people from Australia was so memorable!!! We thoroughly enjoyed the astronomer who physically pointed out the Southern sky with a light. It was wonderful!!! We were able to look through a telescope at the planets, stars and constellations!!! We went back to our hotels by the tour company bus!!! Check out went smoothly and so did the tour company bus ride to Ayers Rock airport!!! It was a memorable trip!!! Thank you to the tour company for everything that you do so well!!!!

Of course it is a must see, but for me it was a little bit too much of the Uluru from each side and at every daytime. The Sounds of Silence Dinner was unfortunately cancelled due to the weather conditions...
