Day 1: Adelaide -- Merna Mora Station (L, D)
The route from Adelaide takes you along the eastern edge of Gulf St Vincent, passing historic coastal towns. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Mambray Creek National Park, and take a one-hour guided bushwalk to see spectacular views over nearby Spencer Gulf. After lunch, cross the Flinders Ranges, one of the most ancient mountain ranges on the planet. Visit the outback railway town of Quorn, where the original Ghan Railway through Central Australia began. The afternoon also includes a one-hour guided bushwalk to see ancient Aboriginal rock art at Yourambulla Caves. After traveling through the ancient mountain landscape of the Flinders Ranges, passing deserted outback towns, you’ll reach your accommodation at Merna Mora Station in the late afternoon. Help your guide prepare a traditional Australian barbecue dinner on this working sheep station, then sit back and relax around the campfire under the stars.

Day 2: Merna Mora Station -- Blinman -- Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary (B, L, D)
After breakfast, journey along the dirt tracks of the Moralana Scenic Drive, spotting wildlife and admiring far-off mountain views, to reach the Stokes Hill lookout. Bring your camera to snap panoramic photos of the outback! After lunch in the historic copper mining town of Blinman, take a guided tour deep underground to explore the mine and hear stories about the Welsh miners who pioneered Blinman’s mining history. In the afternoon, head further into the outback through the Gammon Ranges National Park to the world-famous Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary, a remote and wild area of granite hills where you’ll enjoy dinner and spend the night at the wilderness resort.
Optional activities: choose the flight option and see the Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary from the air, or tour the universe at one of Arkaroola’s professional observatories.

Day 3: Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary -- Ridge Top Tour -- Beltana Homestead (B, L, D)
Follow breakfast with the world-famous Ridge Top tour, taking you up steep terrain by 4WD to reach the top of Sillers Hill Lookout for spectacular views and cooler mountain air. Enjoy a wilderness picnic lunch after the tour back at Arkaroola, then head through the breathtaking scenery of the Gammon Ranges, passing the Aboriginal community of Nepabunna. Spend the night at the historic Beltana homestead, and share drinks around the campfire after swapping tales from your day in the outback.

Day 4: Beltana Homestead  Rawnsley Park Station (B, L, D)
After a hearty breakfast, spend some time exploring the working outback station of Beltana homestead, whose old woolshed was once one of the outback’s largest and busiest sheep-shearing centers. The journey today takes you to Wilpena Pound, where the outback turns to green in a natural amphitheater of mountains, providing an oasis for wildlife in the Flinders Ranges. Travel through Australia’s ancient geological past at Brachina Gorge, where the different colored rock formations take you on a trip through time. Spend the night at Rawnsley Park Station, with dinner cooked over the campfire. Optional activities: choose the flight option and see Wilpena Pound from the air.

Day 5: Rawnsley Park Station -- Adelaide (B, L)
Leaving Rawnsley Park Station, the journey heads south through the Flinders Ranges to reach the ranges’ first town, Melrose, where the blacksmith shop and historic stores bring the outback past alive. As you head closer to the coast, the landscape changes from outback desert to pastoral lands and the vine-striped hills of the Clare Valley. Enjoy a wood-fired lunch at the country-style Stone Hut Bakery and taste Clare Valley wines at the Seven Hills Winery before arriving back in Adelaide at around 5pm.
