Depart in provided transport from your Sitka hotel to meet your experienced pilot for the flight to Glacier Bay. Each seaplane accommodates up to three or five people, including the pilot, so you’ll enjoy an intimate ride and get a great view of the scenery below.

It takes about one hour to reach Glacier Bay by seaplane from Sitka, and the landscape is stunning in all directions. You’ll fly over Chichagof Island, the fifth largest island in the United States. It has some of the highest numbers of bears per square mile of any place on earth!

Next, take in the expansive reach of the Juneau Icefield. As you pass over snow-dusted mountains and watery inlets, keep your eyes open for whale spouts and other signs of wildlife. A pair of binoculars will come in handy, so be sure to bring them along!

Once you arrive at Glacier Bay, you’ll get a bird’s-eye view on this magnificent wilderness and national park, flying above massive glaciers, rugged coastline, deep fjords and freshwater lakes and rivers. Your expert pilot will point out features such as Mount Fairweather, one of the world's tallest coastal mountains at 15,325 feet (4,671 m).

On the last leg of the trip, experience the thrill of landing on the water as your pilot expertly glides into Bartlett Cove, a remote mountain lake that is part of Glacier Bay National Park. Here you’ll have time for a brief stop for excellent photo ops and a peek into the visitor’s center.

At the end of your exciting journey to Glacier Bay you’ll be returned to your hotel in Sitka by the provided transportation.
