For the Segway Part of the Combo Package: Meet your expert guide at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, and learn the ins and outs of riding a Segway during a 25-30 minute training session. Riding a Segway is easy and by the end of your orientation you'll be ready to conquer the streets of San Francisco! Rest assured, your guide will keep a close eye on you and tailor your itinerary to your skill and comfort level.
Glide along the waterfront and see Aquatic Park, San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, and breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco Bay and Alcatraz. Ascend into the upscale Russian Hill neighborhood, and take in more stunning vistas of the bay, the Bay Bridge and Coit Tower.
Pause for fun photos at hidden stairways and paths, and climb alongside San Francisco's iconic cable cars to the top of Lombard Street, which is well known for being extremely crooked! If you're up for it and your guide feels you're ready, cruise along the hairpin turns of this famous street.
Make your way down Telegraph Hill toward North Beach ─ San Francisco's Little Italy ─ and admire Saints Peter and Paul Church in Washington Square Park in the heart of this lively neighborhood. Head toward the touristy hubbub of PIER 39, and delight in seeing San Francisco's famous sea lions as you come to the close of your 3-hour Segway tour. Enjoy some free time during which you can grab lunch (own expense) at one of Fisherman's Wharf many eateries.
For the Alcatraz part of the Combo Package: Headto Pier 33, and arrive half an hour before the designated time of your late ferry to Alcatraz Island. Board your ferry and ride to the world-famous island to see the prison where no one is believed to have escaped alive. Learn about the storied history of this foreboding penitentiary through your self-guided audio tour, available in 10 different languages. Take your time visiting the well-preserved historical buildings and soaking up the haunting atmosphere. When you're ready, use your round-trip ticket to re-board the ferry for the ride back to San Francisco; Alcatraz ferries depart every 30 to 40 minutes.

All guests must be age 12 or older.

All guests must weigh between 100-250 lbs or 45-113 kilos.

NOTE: We have a scale on site and check minimum weights for safety of all of our guests. Underweight guests will not be refunded or rescheduled.

Riders under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the tour.

No pregnant guests are allowed due to safety reasons.

This activity is not recommended for some guests that are: ages 70 years and older, have had recent surgeries or have motor skill/control issues.

Each customer must sign a Liability Waiver.

Helmets and safety vests are provided and are required.

All participants must be able to easily and quickly step on and off the Segway without assistance

Hill portions of the Segway ride are at the discretion of the guide based on experience of the group. This portion of the tour is not guaranteed and no refunds are given if not included

Alcatraz tickets are for the date selected and may not be changed

All Alcatraz departures are the same day as your VIP Segway Tour. If your VIP Segway Tour is at 9:00 AM, then your Alcatraz departure will be later that afternoon (e.g 3:40pm). If your VIP Segway Tour is at 1:30 PM, then your Alcatraz departure will be early that morning (e.g 8:30am). You will receive your Alcatraz departure time after booking

For security purposes, a government issued photo ID is required by all guests to board the Alcatraz ferry

Alcatraz audio tour is available in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Mandarin, Portuguese and Korean

You may leave Alcatraz Island at any time; ferries depart every 30 to 40 minutes

The Segway tour was the highlight of the trip for my teenage kids and their parents. You can cover a lot of ground. There were four of us, and we had no one else in our group so we had a lot of control over the itinerary. Since we had been on Segway before just once, we did the advanced tour. Going down Lombard in a Segway was a blast. Melanie, our guide, was terrific. She knows a lot and was a lot of fun.

Part of the reason I booked the package was because I wanted the kids to visit Alcatraz, and it was sold out I only booked a few days before. We had a bit of a glitch exchanging our voucher for the tickets the tickets were in someone else's name - maybe we filled in for a cancellation. It got straightened out, but I'd advice getting to the pier early, just in case. The Alcatraz visit itself was interesting and well worth it.

Overall, I'd highly recommend the package.

A late review as my partner and I did this tour in July 2016 however it was so fantastic! Our tour guide Carlos was awesome he was not only entertaining but made the tour so interesting, providing lots of information and great photo opportunities. If you want to cover multiple sites of San Francisco in a shorter time would highly recommend!

30 mins of a video and hands on training and off you go on your segway. Max tour group size appears to be 8 people. Learning the segway is relatively easy, we had tour members from age 15-65 and everyone got the hang of it within an hour. The 2.5 hour tour took us up to Coit Tower great views and down Lombard street nice curves and the walking tourists love photoing the segways.

Our guide Carlos was very friendly and encouraging and he had a well rehearsed routine he has the same delivery as Aziz Ansari. He gave special attention to the slower learners but got everyone comfortable fairly quickly. He took us to points of interest and took a few breaks to take pictures and rest our feet.

Segways don't have any suspension so your feet do hurt a little after 3 hours. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, segwaying is quite fun. I signed up for the tour because the package was the only way to get an Alcatraz ticket, but segwaying turned out to be a good experience.

The Viator package does overcharge you ALOT: I paid 150 for the segway tour 75 separately and the Alcatraz ticket 33. Book separately a few months in advance to save money if possible.
