We did a combined package of the visit to Alcatraz and the boat ride of the San Francisco Bay. Both tours were amazing. I would highly recommend the boat ride as it is a small boat and you get up close and personal to the landmarks while learning a whole lot of history from your guide. Book it! :)

We went with friends and our teenagers, ages 13, 14, and 16. Everyone enjoyed the Alcatraz tour. It was very informative. We didn't feel the need to go with the guided group. The audio tour was great. The unexpected highlight of our trip was the SF Bay Adventure Sightseeing Cruise. Everyone agreed this was the best part of our trip. Captain Charles did an excellent job of narrating the tour. The boat trip was filled with adventure. We felt like we were on a rollercoaster! They provide everything you need to stay dry. I haven't laughed this hard in years! It was so much fun! We started out by going out to the Golden Gate bridge. We saw tons of porpoises. And, we saw a whale and a leopard shark. The shark jumped out of the water right next to the boat! We were able to take great photos right under the GG bridge. We also took the boat over to Pier 39 and went right next to the sea lions. We also took the boat over to the Bay Bridge and AT and T Park. This activity is an absolute must! Captain Charles owns and operates the tour. He is so passionate about showing you the highlights of the city. Make sure you arrive at the scheduled time. You need to allow time to get all your gear on and get situated on the boat. Enjoy!!!

On our last day in San Fran we booked the Alcatraz/Bay Adventure package. We got lucky and had a gorgeous fog-free day in August which made the day even more perfect. Alcatraz was very cool and the audio tour was way better than I anticipated. DO THE AUDIO TOUR even if you hate being a super-tourist. Just be warned that in August it is "nesting season" so there were gulls galore.Bay Adventure was awesome -- who doesn't like a speed boat ride?! We sat in the very front so it was a very windy and bumpy ride, but those in the back of the boat got all the spray (which was good fun for all the kids back there) but they give you gear so don't worry about getting cold or wet. Our captain Steve was funny and very nice, he'll make sure to stop so you can take great pics of all the sights. Saw some dolphins, seals, birds. We even stopped by AT and T stadium during a game and heard the roar of the spectators. Money well spent!Fisherman's Wharf is a NIGHTMARE though so prepare for crowds.

This was hands down an incredible experience. Our Captain was fun, kind and knowledgeable. Going out under the Golden Gate Bridge was magical. It was also my sons favorite part of our weekend by far. I highly highly recommend this tour. I can’t say enough good about our Captain─so great!!

Everything and more than we expected. Only thing there were so many people at Alcatraz you couldn't move to keep up with the recorded audio.

This tour is an absolute blast and you learn so much about San Francisco, both past and present. Captain Charles is very knowledgeable, very accommodating and very passionate about San Francisco. This tour is a must!!

Captain Charles is awesome, we had a blast. I give this trip a five out of five.
