Alcatraz Island Tour
On your first day, board a ferry at Pier 33 for the 10-minute ride across placid San Francisco Bay toward Alcatraz Island.
When you arrive, watch an informative movie about Alcatraz, which once housed some of the nation’s most heinous criminals, including Al Capone and James ‘Whitey’ Bulger. A number of inmates tried to escape the massively fortified island, but no one is known to have succeeded. Take an audio tour of the cellblocks and historic buildings that are a gloomy contrast to the spellbinding views of San Francisco’s skyline in the distance.
Your Segway tour isn’t until the next day, so there’s no need to hurry. Explore the compound at your own pace and head back to the mainland when you wish; ferries depart roughly every half hour.
City Segway Tour
The day after your expedition to Alcatraz, meet your guide for your 3-hour morning or afternoon Segway tour -- an intimate, leisurely way to see more of San Francisco than you would on a walking tour or bus tour. Receive a safety orientation to get comfortable on your Segway, and then set off to explore the city with your small group and knowledgeable guide.

Date selected for this tour is for the Alcatraz portion of the tour and may not be changed

Alcatraz Island ferry departure times will vary between 10am and 3pm, depending on availability

For security purposes, a government issued photo ID is required by all guests to board the Alcatraz ferry

Minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times on Alcatraz Island

Alcatraz audio tour is available in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Mandarin, Portuguese and Korean

You may leave Alcatraz Island at any time; ferries depart every 30-40 minutes

SEGWAY TOUR

Segway tour is scheduled for the following day at the departure time selected at time of booking

All Segway riders must sign a liability waiver

Pregnant women are not permitted to ride the Segway for safety reasons

Minimum Segway weight requirement is 100 lbs (45 kg) and maximum weight limit is 260 lbs (118 kg)

Insurance requires a pre-authorization of USD $500. Please bring an American Express, MasterCard, Visa, Discover credit card or cash for this deposit. It will be refunded upon completion of the tour

Please dress appropriately and wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes. Large backpacks and purses are not recommended

Best Alcatraz and Segway tour ever. Everything when to schedule, tickets were there to be picked up at pier 33. Alcatraz walking tour with headphone was amazing . Them first time riding Segway tour was so much fun. Very professional, well inform, plenty of writing time, picture taking, we even went down lumbar Street on the Segway. People were amazed that was even possible. What a wonderful experience. I recommend it to everybody .

I bought the combo because Alcatraz was unavailable for 3 weeks. So, I paid more then I wanted to but was receiving a Segway Tour. Well, Alcatraz was incredible PERIOD. If you come to San Francisco, you must visit 'The Rock'. The next day we showed up for the Segway portion of our package. OMG, what a blast!!!!! My wife was a little reluctant, however after a few minutes of one on one instructions, she was ready to go. Our guide Josh was awesome too! Everything went well at check in for both after booking with Viator.

The Alcatraz tour was great. The City Segway Tour was more than great! My young adult children say that it was one of the highlights of the trip to California for them! Michelle was an awesome guide! I would definitely recommend the Segway Tour!

Alcatraz was great, pretty much what you'd expect...but a blast nonetheless. The Segway Tour was so much fun! I didn't know what to expect exactly, and this totally exceeded my expectations. Our tour guide, John, was super nice and informative! the Segway was easy to operate, I was a bit nervous about that initially, but it was no big deal. We saw lots of cool things and learned a lot of information. Overall it was totally worth the money spent!

We wouldn't have been able to get to Alcatraz if we didn't have the opportunity to by the combo - glad they planned ahead! The Segway tour was fun - and we soon got the hang of it - my teenagers were terrified of being seen on a Segway but soon got over that angst and had a great time. Our guide was fun while keeping us all safe and a some interesting stories to add. Could have skipped the trip down to see Scoma's and maybe just had it pointed out in passing - would have skipped Ghirardelli's too but the restrooms were a good idea!
