Start your food and cocktail tour with a 2-hour cooking demo at the New Orleans School of Cooking. A professional chef prepares classic specialties such as jambalaya, gumbo and pralines while you watch and learn. The class is served with a side of local history that goes into the spices that are essential to Cajun and Creole flavors. The modern-day cuisine of New Orleans opens a window onto the city’s rich cultural history, with its roots in the traditions of French, Spanish, Native American and African cooking.
When the class demonstration finishes, snack on generous samples of the dishes, accompanied by complimentary coffee, iced tea and beer. Be sure to take the provided recipe booklet to try making the dishes at home!
After your introduction to Cajun and Creole cuisine, stroll through the historic streets of the French Quarter on a cocktail tour with an expert guide. Learn about the origins of Southern Comfort, invented in New Orleans in 1874. The classic Sazerac cocktail goes back even further to 1850! Purchase any of your favorite cocktails during stops at several historic bars.
As you walk through the French Quarter, look inside the city’s oldest restaurant to see its wine cellar and private dining rooms, where some of the most important deals in New Orleans were hatched. Examine the Spanish and French-inspired colonial architecture as your guide shares fascinating stories about the world-famous neighborhood, including the bars and cocktails created here.

The highlight of our trip was the cooking class and cocktail walking tour. The chef was fun and gave us great tips for making mouth-watering gumbo, jambalaya and pecan pralines. The walking tour was a blast as tour guide Joe native New Orleanian shared the origin and history of local restaurants and bars, along with the unique drinks created at each bar on the tour. Bring some cash and/or your credit card so you can buy and taste the local drinks at each stop.

Great class at NO cooking school. Excellent tour guide for the cocktail walking tour.
However, we had to call Viator customer service to receive our vouchers for both activities as the email was not received within 48 hours of my booking the tours.

The 4 star rating is an average:
5 stars for the New Orleans Culinary experience. Chef Kevin personality and food are worth the cost. 0 stars for the Cocktail Walking tour weather. A tornado sprouted just before the tour started. Unfortunately, my wife and I could not reschedule because we were departing the next day. 5 stars for Viator and the tour company for handling the refund.

Chef Kevin was knowledgeable and entertaining. We have done a number of cooking classes and this is the best demo class ever.

The cocktail tour was equally entertaining and informative. The timing between the 2 tours is a little tight, but we made it withvno problem.
