Board a custom-built, state-of-the-art luxury catamaran for your whale-watching cruise, departing from Long Beach's Rainbow Harbor. The quiet, 149-passenger vessel features a low-emission engine, which means whales and their marine environment are not disturbed.

Head to the boat's lounge areas or expansive decks where there’s plenty of viewing room to enjoy the coastal views and watch for wildlife. As you travel through Rainbow Harbor, listen to commentary by your experienced captain and crew, including knowledgeable Aquarium of the Pacific marine-mammal educators. Hear comprehensive information and fun facts from these naturalists about the characteristics of the blue and gray whales, as well as other ocean creatures.

Although sightings are not guaranteed, it’s likely that from December to April you’ll observe Pacific gray whales during their annual migration south from Alaska's Bering and Chukchi seas. They swim along the Southern California coastline on their way down to Scammon’s Lagoon in Baja, Mexico, where they give birth in warmer waters. From May through November, however, be on the lookout for blue whales, the largest mammals on Earth, who are drawn to these waters for krill ─ the mainstay of their diet.

Year-round, you might see other types of whales such as orcas, fin, humpback and minke whales. Plus, keep an eye out for sharks, seals, sea lions, molas (sunfish), brown boobies and other seabirds and a variety of dolphins (bottlenose, Risso’s and Pacific white-sided), who jump out of the water alongside the boat.

WE TOOK OUR GRANDDAUGHTERS WHO ARE 10 YEARS OLD ON THE CRUISE AND THEY HAD A WONDERFUL TIME. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CRUISE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN AND THE YOUNG AT HEART. CAN'T WAIT TO TAKE OUR GRANDSON.

We loved the cruise and saw blue whales, humpback whales, fin whales, sea lions, and a very playful pod of dolphins. There were naturalists from the Aquarium of the Pacific on board to answer questions and provide narration. Be sure to get there early - and be in line early - so you get a seat outside. Inside is nice, but you miss some of the sights. You can stand at the rails once the boat gets going, but still... Also, wear a hat and LOTS of sunblock.

This was an excellent tour! While we were on the cruise we saw sea lions, two kinds of dolphins, a mola mola fish, a shark, and... a fin whale!

We got seats toward the front of the boat, and we never experienced sea sickness. All the passengers were encouraged to watch for sea life and the naturalist on board provided helpful commentary as well as hints on what to watch for in the water.

Great value - wonderful trip. Highly recommend!

Awesome! Seen 3 Blue Whales, very informative crew and went out of there way to race us to each sighting!
Very clean comfortable ride and plenty of room to move around on and off the deck! Nice boat!

It is sure worth the price because it is not always assured that there will be a whale sighting. Having it be our first time, the experience is very enjoyable.

I am very happy for the tour. We were 7 people and we have the opportunity to see whales. The experience was amazing and the crew showed knowledge about the ocean life. It is a tour the I really recommend to everybody.
