Enjoy nature-gazing, informative wildlife talks and crisp local beer the next time you port in Juneau, Alaska. Once in port, meet your guides, who will take you to see a 12-mile-long (19-km) glacier and on a ride on a jet boat to see whales and sea lions. Then you’re off to one of Juneau’s best breweries to learn about the beer-making process and try some samples. You’ll return to the port in time to reboard your boat prior to departure.

Your Alaskan adventure begins once you make port at Juneau. Meet your guide at the Mt Roberts Tramway, and from there depart to your first stop: the massive Mendenhall Glacier. Learn about the geological forces that shaped this glacier and the rest of this part of Alaska at the visitors center. You'll spend between 40 and 60 minutes here.

After a short drive to Auke Bay, you’ll be introduced to your naturalist guide and captain, who will lead you on a majestic 2-hour whale-watching cruise. The blue Alaska waters are a metropolis teeming with diverse sea life, so keep your eyes peeled for humpback and killer whales, Steller sea lions and harbor seals. Learn about these wonders from your guide as you watch them in their habitat. Enjoy onboard refreshments and a snack of local salmon spread on a bagel.

Back on land, you’ll be driven to the award-winning Alaskan Brewing Company, where you’ll have approximately an hour to learn about Alaska’s rich brewing background and explore the collection of historic brewery artifacts. Sample ambers, white ales and limited edition beers while the Brew Crew illuminates the tales behind your drinks. Take home a complimentary tasting glass to commemorate the Alaska experience.

Whale- and Passenger-Friendly Boats

Each boat is designed with water-jet drives to ensure quiet underwater operation without dangerous propellers that may frighten or harm the animals. Because the whales feel safe around the boats, you will receive the benefit of being able to witness their endearing social nature up close. In addition, the boats are equipped with hydrophones that are lowered into the water. These devices allow you to hear the whales communicate with each other.
